Rachel Buckingham

Rachel Buckingham is a Kansas City native with twenty eight years dance training, including seven years at Ibsen Dance Theatre. She also has studied at Stephen's College in Columbia, Missouri, Westport Ballet, University of Missouri Kansas City, and The Missouri State Ballet. Rachel has studied Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Modern, Irish Stepping, African, and Hula.

Rachel has performed in eleven Gladstone Theatre in the Park musicals and has now choreographed four of its musicals Oklahoma, Crazy for You, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.  After graduating from Oak Park High school she did a choreography internship at Starlight Theatre and got to work with performing legends Cathy Rigby, Theodore Bikel, and Sammy Dallas Bayes, the director of Fiddler on the Roof. Rachel has professionally appeared in four seasons at Starlight Theatre including shows Will Roger’s Follie’s, Little Shop of Horrors, Wizard of Oz, and Footloose. Rachel toured with the United States and Tokyo Sesame Street Live, and a season at the Shoji Tabuchi Theatre in Branson, Missouri. Most recently, Rachel danced on the New Theatre stage in Oklahoma. Rachel appeared on several Hallmark cards, and has choreographed a variety of North Kansas City High School musicals.

Rachel enjoys teaching all styles of dance and stresses a solid technique foundation throughout her curriculum.  She is thrilled to be teaching at Ibsen Dance Theatre for their 30th Anniversary.
