Katy grew up with Ibsen Dance Theater and Gladstone's Theater in the Park, and was a member of the Ibsen Youth Ballet Company, performing in productions of the Nutcracker, Peter and the Wolf, and Die Puppenfee. In college, Katy was a Dance Major and danced with Creighton's Dance Company in ballet, tap, jazz, and modern pieces, including for productions of Giselle and The Nutcracker.
After receiving a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Creighton University, Katy moved to Chicago, where she became one of the primary physical therapy providers to the Joffrey Ballet Company. During this time, Katy triaged, evaluated, and treated dancers both in the studio and backstage at official performances, and Katy joined the Company on tour to Los Angeles as well as New York City for the Balanchine Festival. In Chicago, Katy also provided physical therapy services to Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, the Chicago Repertory Ballet, Gus Giordano Jazz Company, and The Goodman Theater. Katy is certified as a Dance Medicine Provider by Westside Dance Physical Therapy, following completion of their four-part practicum in New York City.
Katy recently moved back home, where she provides physical therapy services to the Kansas City Ballet and the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. She is delighted to return to Ibsen's and teach at the place that ignited her passion for dance.
