Bettye Hubbard has been performing in the Kansas City and St. Joseph MO area for over 2 5 years, both as a vocal soloist and in ensembles. In prior years, she lived and performed in Northwest and North Central Missouri. She was graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor's Degree and Master's degree in Vocal Music Education. After teaching K-12 music classes for several yearsin North Central Missouri, she moved to Kansas City where she worked at WingertJones Music Company. She returned to education first as a middle school/high school choir accompanist, and later teaching elementary with North Kansas City School District, retiring in 2010.
Bettye currently performs with the Kansas City Symphony Chorus and RiverSong, a women's barbershop chorus. She has held leadership roles in both organizations, including musical and administrative positions and is currently the Associate Director for RiverSong. Bettye has also been involved with Gladstone Theater in the Park as a performer and music director since 2001. Shows include Wizard of Oz, Li'l Abner, Annie Get Your Gun, Once Upon a Mattress ( music director), Flyer, Hello Dolly (music director), Music Man, Hairspray, Oliver (music director) and Seussical. Other community theater and school productions include Camelot, Bye Bye Birdie, Trial by Jury, The Sound of Music and Urinetown.
She has been an active church musician for many years, as singer, choir director, children's choir director, and pianist/organist.
